Sounds like a fair question. Most just learn from posts, ect.. maybe John can work on some kind of Google map page where we put markers for locations ??

Anyway I live on LI ~ 1 hour east of you. I grew up in College Point, I am guessing that you know it... There are at least 4 more in the Great south Bay and several in the eastern sound. I am sure they will chime in.

I drive past the worlds fair marina every now and then on the GCP and will be looking over to see that 31...

I boat out of Mystic...but I got an oldie 40 trawler.
I can help you with any Cummins question as I have lots of experience there.
And if you need any local cruising knowledge I've been boating this area for 20 years so just ask.

Good post! This will get long as the weeks go by.

I am in Maryland on the Chesapeake. I boat middle to upper bay area. Thomas Point Light to C&D Canal. Mainly around Pooles Island, Gunpowder River, Middle River, Hart-Miller Island, Baltimore. Just about anywhere on the eastern side of the bay as well.

Great post! I am over here in Seattle Washington. I boat all over the Pugest Sound and out of the Port of Ilwaco during the summer months.

A little over 7,000 statute miles from Seattle, WA to Norfolk, VA via the canal.

A little under 3,000 if you have it trucked.

Little Need

While the canal would be a great adventure and we had a member in Central America (what ever happened to Our Man in Panama?), there are so many places to cruise to in just the NE alone it would keep you busy for a lifetime. We are in Wickford RI, a great little seaside town with all of Narragansett Bay to explore. Then there's CT and LI, we loved LI on our Sept cruise. We did the CC Canal and Boston Harbor in the spring. Maine! My buddy has a house on Vinyl Haven and is always bugging me to get up there. Someday when I really have time!
