Obsessing on making the step to an Albin but.........

Ok so I am obsessing on the choice to step up to an Albin 31. After having a Coastal 22 & zipping around up to 50 mph I will definetly be a change in life style, hopefully for the better. Slow down a bit, cruise in a more classy fashion & be able to spend a few night on the water in comfort. Big move, bigger bucks but as they say life is ticking by, get out and enjoy it

Step up if you can. The comfort and slower pace is a joy. These boats still do move along pretty well.

I got 2 foot'itas and went from a 26' twin 200 outboard to my 28' Albin 5 boating seasons back. One of the best moves I ever made in boating. Then I went for a ride at the last "NE Rendezvous" on a 31Te the "Joint Venture" and now I have a case 3 foot'itas.

I went from 35 to 18. Never miss it. It's amazing how much more you do enjoy slowing down. When I do have the need for speed I open it up to 24-25. That's enough for me.

I went from a 25' walk around that could do close to 30kts, but it was so uncomfortable we never did much more that 20-22. The Albin 28 can do 18kts comfortably in seas that the 25' would knock your teeth out in. Speed is relative. See if there's an Albin owner in your neighborhood who will take you for a ride.

Dont be fooled, there are times I think we all feel that our Albins should go faster but everything is a trade off. On those early mornings when its calm and I wish to get somewhere I would like a faster boat. BUT those times for me are less in comparison to the days when its not so nice and the Albin does a great job of going through almost anything and doing it comfortably.
I guess what I am saying is its more than just about speed, you should be taking what you wish to do with the boat into account. Coming from an I/O there are some major differences, see a post I did after a few days after owning one... viewtopic.php?t=800&highlight=

well every one thanks for the warm welcome... Just put a deposit down,,,,brrrr its getting a bit chilly out there,, on the 31 TE "Mahalo" & thinks are looking good,, we'll see what happens next week.. Any good tips would be much appreciated.

yes she has a cockpit camera, not working at this time but he is supposed to replace it before I take title. Another cool electronic to break down .. I only wish it had a Mate seat & convertable bed in the helm & a heater would be real nice to & ...................................................

We went from a 21', 40mph, 12gph+ OB to a 27' 8-10mph, 1.5gph Albin.
Smart move? What do you think? The question became "Do we have time to get somewhere?" instead of "Can we afford to get somewhere?". Drinks don't get spilled while underway anymore. We can walk around the boat while underway instead of having to hang on tight. Insurance rates were much less even though the boat was 3 times the value (diesel power & slow top speed).
