Trouble posting

Post by DougSea »

John - I keep getting errors when I try and reply to a post. I've copied the message below:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /aog/posting.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/1.3.36 Server at www.albinowners.net Port 80

This happened the other day but cleared up when I tried again later. Any thoughts?

Hi Doug,
Have you tried logging in before you post? When you come to the main page, click on Login at the top of the page.
The 404 error is because the site is not located in the root. It sits in \aog

Anyone else having problems? Sorry I've been working alot and haven't had much time to check in.

Thanks for getting back to me John. I'm normally logged in automatically (this note is being written under my 'auto-login') but when I had the problem I tried logging out and logging back in. Still didn't work. No idea why...

Ha! I Just had the same problem. I was trying to reply using quote. When I just clicked on reply it worked. I'll check the database indexes.

Yeah, I had this problem too. I resolved by using my browsers 'back' botton and then hitting submit another time.

still there...

Looks like I'm having the same problem. I've tried manual and automatic log-in, but if the post goes up is seems to be chance.
(we'll see if I can get this to post)

I've had the same problem intermittently. Hitting the back button and trying again does not seem to work.

So this is funny. I get the error when I try to send a PM, but if I go to the forum, make a post, and then go back to the PM and attempt to send it, it will work. Or at least it has so far. I am definitely logged in, and have logged out and back in several times.

The issue is beginning to sound like an indexing problem. I will look into it as time allows this week. Sorry guys...

Hey John,

Glad to hear you're making some headway...and I appreciate the fact that you take the time to maintain this forum!

Also glad I'm not the only one having the problem! :)

UPDATE

Post by jcollins »

Progress is slow on this. The issue is related to my hosting service, not the board software. I have a request submitted and I am waiting for a reply.

Our hosting service thinks they resolved the posting problem. Please let me know if you experience it again.

Thanks,
John

It's doing it again. This time when I try to send a PM.

Yup. They removed the security from the posting.php file but it's still on the pm and mail file. I sent a note.

Thanks,
John
