Mack Boring Boat Owner Training

Post by RobS »

In another forum, Ric and I have touched on the the training classes offered at Mack Boring. With many of our boats hitting the hard it's a good time to plan for the training if one may be at all interested. Looking for any feedback from anyone who may have attended. If it was not hands-on I would say that between the owner's manual and time spent on boatdiesel.com we'd be pretty well covered and it would be questionable if it were worth the time and expenses. However, there appears to be quite a bit of hands-on and there is no substitute for hand's on training...

Looks like you have to start with the 1 day class first. I think I will look into the New Jersy class on Friday in January. Thanks for posting this!

I was looking at March 12 then 15-16 in Middleborough, MA, but now I notice the 2-day is sail boat only, no 2 days for powerboats after the 1-day powerboat. Doesn't make sense. I'd really rather not drive to NJ and spend 2 nights in the Clarion Inn.

On second thought

Post by RicM »

On second thought perhaps for $1000 I could just hire the Mac Boring guy from Middleboro to come to Wickford and adjust my valves and teach me how to change my transmission oil?

Has anyone taken this class? It's been a few months since this was posted and there are quite a few new folks on the board now. I'd be interested in taking it this winter in Jersey.
Thanks for any feedback.
