There must be others here who can verify or add more but here goes a little of what (I think) I know
Early 80s Terry Compton takes the A25 design & reworks it to produce the A27AC which runs in production till 1991 when the final A27 sports are produced.
1986? Albin moved N American production to RI. At this time trawlers such as the 36 & 43 were still available built in Taiwan.
1987: 34 motoryacht produced. This took various forms including one that looks a bit like an A27AC on steroids. Very practical boat but not very pleasing to the North American eye.
1989: The 34MY series is dropped & the first 32 Family Fisherman, later to become the 32+2, is produced based on the 34MY hull.
1992? First A28. This boat, with minor mods from year to year, became Albin's 'bread & butter boat.
1993?: A short lived A24 Weekender appeared at the Annapolis show. This one looks like a shrunk 32+2. It is another of Terry Comptons creations which, although very practical, looks like nothing else on the water. Don't think many were produced. They were trailerable but were most likely too heavy for most SUVs of the early 90s to pull. Compared to the mass production express Sea Rays etc they were expensive (& worth it) but not the boat for a market that prefers lots of superficial glitter rather than a solid build.
1996: The first 32+2 (the +2 being the extension of the hull under the platform)
1998?? A36 Fast Trawler. Another Compton design that looks like nothing else & is a hugely practical boat. Again, this Albin seemed to be a selling failure in a market that seems to love sameness.
2002? A45 Command Bridge, a hugely stretched 32+2 introduced. Very few produced, but again an incredible boat. A real cruising fisherman with plenty of human ammenities that the production SFs don't have but again, it just does not look like the rest of the Sports Fisherman crowd. All the fishing experts know that Albin builds cruising boats not fishing boats. Right?????
Others may have the years of production better than me but 2000 to 2007 saw the introduction of a couple variants of the 28 hull & the 32+2 has been stretched again to the 35 Command Bridge. Through it all the 28 has kept on selling & made a respectable name for itself.
Those are my condensed recollections. I have kept a fairly close eye on Albins since the fall of 1985 when I ordered my A27AC. It was an early RI plant boat. Through the years I have been to the Annapolis show numerous times & bought my 1996 A32 in late 99. Sold my 1986 A27 early 2000.
