Mystic Shipyard West
Anyone familiar with the Mystic Shipyard West? Planning a multi-port trip of 7-10 days for mid-August and was thinking of 2 to 3 nights here. Spent a couple nights at Mystic Seaport last year but was looking for something a little different, pool for the kids, etc. Thanks in advance for any feedback....

My boat lives across the river from Shipyard West at Gwenmor.
I have never stayed overnight there, but I remember there being a pool. I was there a few times looking at boats, etc.
What do you want to know specifically?
Fixed docks, not a bad walk to town, even shorter dinghy ride to town, some decent resturants on that side of the river, downriver of the bridges,
If you have specific Qs e mail me
jleonard@kipinc.com and I'll try to help.

That all sounds good, real good. Just didn't want "Oh no, you don't really want to go there" If I have any specifics I'll let you know and I'll also let you know when we will be in town. Thanks for the quick reply.

Rob,
We keep our boat at Mystic Shipyard East, not too far away from the west yard.
I will agree with Jay's response, it is a nice marina, not a bad walk and a nice dingy ride to town. As you already know lots to see in town. The pool is nice and the marina is nice and clean.
Let us know when you will be around, Im going away in the middle of the month for my daughters wedding, but if I am here I'll stop by. Denis

hey, maybe i'll wander over and see your boat too! i'm going to practice getting away from the pier this week and then i hope to feel ready to leave the river. (need to name the boat yet) it is amazing what good shape it is in! three summers of neglect and still it is in great shape mechanically and body wise. this is truely a good boat.

Just a joke -thanks anyways. We should exchange dates and locations when it's closer and confirmed. Maybe we'll be cross paths...jleonard wrote:Rob,
If it were mine to give yes...but unfortunatley it is not.
No facilities at my marina anyway other than the heads.
But if you want to try to slime in go right ahead.

Actually last saturday I was anchored at Watch Hill, RI (Napatree) and a friend called and asked if he could spend the night in my slip. I said sure but be advised the marina will charge you if they see you there. He did spend the night, and he slimed out undetected as I was on my back up river early afternoon .Just a joke -thanks anyways
So it is possible.

No clue really. we'll be with another boat on the "play it by the weather and how we feel" plan.Do you know when you will be at Coecles?
Actually last weekend he was telling me about some gunkhole he discovered in that area (near Shelter I) that I never heard of so I may be blindly following his lead if you know what I mean.
So all I can say is if you see a classic old 40 trunk cabin w/black enclosure rafted to what looks like a 46 ft "mini freighter" stop by and help deplete my inventory of cold beer
