Location
As John noted, it's never too early to start planning. The recent 2008 event proved that you do not need a large group to have a fun & succesful get-to-together. However, it would be great to have as many attend as possible. Since this last event was quite a bit up North it seems reasonable to bring it a bit more to the South & West next time around. Montauk, LI and Essex, CT were discussed as favorable locations. Let's keep this democratic and poll a few possibilities. Any other suggestions are welcome too.

I didn't vote but I'll share some info.
I am currently a co-host for an MTOA rendezvous in Mystic at the Seaport.
I would very strongly say do not have it there. Food is very expensive, so is dockage.
There are other possibilies there such as the Mystic Shipyard.

Lake Michigan
When did Lake Michigan become part of New England? (Or Long Island for that matter). LOL. I would like to see the next Rendezvous somewhere in the SW sector, Mystic, Essex, Montauk all sound good to me, and I think Karen would go to New Jersey rather than miss the next one.

I'd like to see something like Ric mentions. Block would be my first choice. Montauk second. IMO - We seem to have lost contact with quite a few of the CT, RI, LI folks who attended the first rendezvous.
I planned on making the trip to Boston but it was just too far to reach comfortably in a weekend. Ric's 11 hour run home is exactly why I didn't chance it.
BTW - I didn't see any buttons to cast a vote up top.

I agree and that's pretty much what I was saying in the first post of this thread.JackK wrote:I'd like to see something like Ric mentions. Block would be my first choice. Montauk second. IMO - We seem to have lost contact with quite a few of the CT, RI, LI folks who attended the first rendezvous.
Since this is a fishing oriented group Montauk and Block Isl will probably be the top choices.

Jack, there should be radial buttons to the left of the location name to click on.JackK wrote:BTW - I didn't see any buttons to cast a vote up top.

Jack, If you have already voted and no longer have the buttons then what you should see are the results of the votes thus far...jcollins wrote:If the buttons are not there, it means that you have already voted once.

Location Rendezvous 2009
The Joint Venture is in Montauk (Snug Harbor) thru October. I have looked at possible Rendezvous locations - there are two that would work - Star Island and Montauk Yacht Club. Each have floating docks, pool, barbecue area, eating facilities (Star Island basic, MYC high end), only Star Island has fuel.
Star Island 2008 rates are $4.75 per foot per day plus $25.00 per day for utilities (water, electric, cable,WiFi) - no transportation to town, a 3 mile walk.
MYC 2008 rates are $4.75 per foot per day plus $17.50 per day for utilities plus $9.00 per day resort fee - shuttle bus to town and other areas is available.
There are two other restaurants within walking distance - at Westlake Marina (the wait can be up to two hours) and Diamond Cove Marina.
Montauk is all about fishing, fishing, fishing, fishing, and more fishing ,crowded and expensive.
I voted for Essex.CT. - more relaxed, easy walk to town with many shops and eateres.
