Got a Little Head Last Night
My Jabsco manual head needed rebuilding. West had the direct replacement on sale for $119 from $155. I contemplated for a couple months on upgrading but for our use I decided to save the $$ for elsewhere. Swapped it out this morning before work, including a new sanitation hose to the Y-Valve.
The hardest part was having to go to work afterwards....

Did you reuse the original base or did you have to install an inspection port in order to remove the bolts, etc from the old base??

Re: Got a Little Head Last Night
Replaced the hand pump unit on our 28 TE once. Then went to the electric unit on a refit which lasted a few years. Had to replace that also. The fundamental problem associated with both is the structural design (a vertical column) which leads to side to side forces the unit is not designed to take. The electrical unit also uses those paper gaskets which seem to have limited life. We need to get back to a poop deck solution.

Re: Got a Little Head Last Night
After many flushing problems with the original hand pump head, I changed over to an electric flush head. I also started to use fresh water for the flush. As part of this upgrade I removed the rubber hose all the way to the holding tank and installed 1.5" PVC pipe. That was two years ago and I have not had a single time that I could not flush plus I got rid of the smell from the raw water and the rubber hose. I would recommend making the changes and making your life easier by removing the uncertainty of
