Found storage space

Post by Maye Marie »

Found rod storage space.
Above the ceiling of the quarter berth you have a good space for storage. Take the ceiling down and you will see a great storage space for rods above the ceiling running all the way back to the stern. I have modified the upper panel with snaps and a knob. So all I do is. above the ceiling is to pull off the panel for excess to the storage area. No one knows tmy rods and folding chairs are kept there. I keep five or six rods aboard all the time and they are out of sight. If any one has interest I can take some photos next time I am at the boat. A little modification but doable.

Folding chairs fit up there? About how much space do you have?

Empty Space

The area discussed is also assessible by removing the Port side cupholder-tray panel to see what's going on in there. In my boat there's a lot of wiring for electronics and alarm in that area. I can see that a boxed area, open with a lip into the cabin could be a great place to stash rods with the reels inside the lip and butts extending into the cabin area, tips toward the stern.

There is some space above the port side but it is full of wires, ect...
I guess if they get tucked away you can put things there.
See the attached pic, I took it when running new wires for an inverter. It is looking aft and slightly to port. There is about 12"vx8"h of room all the way to the back.

How do you think I got the money for the boat in the first place?

Here are some promised Pics on the rod storage. What you can’t see is the tool kit tucked off to the left under the floor in front of the port seat. The space in there gives me room to tuck a good amount of tools and parts there. I did away with my boat chairs and are using the folding camping chairs. We travel a lot on the boat and we fish every were we go. First mate has been much happier about me bringing gear when I hide my stuff in here.

Thanks for the pics. Looks like you added a rod holder on the port gunnel, between the forward (stock) rod holder and the end of the bow rail ?

You are correct I did add a straight rod older in that area. I use it to hold my cleaning table. It has worked out to be an Ideal location. It is next to the salt wash down hose for cleaning fish or cutting bait. The hose is an easy reach for clean up. Also it is handy location to use the table as a cooking station. Using a rail mount I mount the grill to the rear of the bow rail. It puts both grill and table together so you can use the table for holding cooking ingredients, utensils and to serve off. I cut the table width down to fit snugly between the rod storage holders on the side of the boat. I then made two knobs and mounted on eash side of the table to hang off for storage. When not in use slide the table between the rod storage holders and hang it off the knobs. It puts the table in easy reach and out of the way when not in use.
