Hey all,
Just came back from a BEAUTIFUL day at the water (not on my boat, but we're getting there) and sat down to see what's new on AOG...
Not a thing apparently.
Hopefully this is because you're all out enjoying the first real weekend of SPRING! Yes, it officially arrived a while ago but today it finally showed up here in the Northeast. Spent the day at the club getting moorings put in, launches launched, Clubhouse squared away...just a great day!
Tomorrow - Albin work day!
(I think the Summer Ales have kicked in - I was looking for new posts dated Sunday. The clock tells me I have almost three hours of Saturday left. Did I mention it was a really great day? )

Doug,
The weather today in RI was spectacular. I spent it repairing the rollers on the sliding glass door in our kitchen. What a pain in the a%&! Every year I start earlier to try and get a boat in for the first good days, but I have come to the conclusion that boat yards, like most people, put everything off until the last minute. They have all winter to get the work done. Every year I ask for a splash on April 15. EVERY Year I'm lucky if they get it in for May 1. This year I own 2 boats at 2 boat yards and I can't get either one in the g*&^d*&% water! Tomorrow (Sunday) will probably involve yardwork. At least the Red Sox are kicking the snot out of the Yankmes in prime time hi def! (That should get some posting going)

Well. Good morning. Your right. It was finally a great boating day. Afterglow has been in the water for two weeks, but work schedules and the weather were against me. Saturday I started up the engine, let her warm up for awhile and headed out for the shack. It's a short ride. About 9 miles, but the Bay was calm. Less than a foot. Ran at different RPMs to get a feel for things. No problems. I had a vibration last year from my dinged prop. That's all gone. The prop shop did a good job.
I passed a 35 CB when I was coming out of Seneca Creek. Tides have been high around here so I had no problems coming into my creek.
Once at the pier, I went through the normal routine of setting up the lines, connecting shore power, etc. Then sat back and toasted the 2007 boating season.
I did have 3 or 4 voice mails that all began with "It's a beautiful day, your probably on your boat"... They're right!

I stumbled across this post this morning. Here it is a year later and yesterday was one of those great days. We moved the boat from the shore shack to her new home at Seneca Creek Marina.
We cruised Dundee, the Gunpowder, the bay, and then into Seneca. The sun was warm with a light wind. Chop was around 1 foot.
Backed into the new slip w.o.i. (with out incident) We weren't there 10 minutes when folks came around to check out the boat, the dogs, and us. (new neighbors)

The weather was beautiful here in CT all weekend, but the wind was 20 mph all weekend also. We did get to take our maiden voyage on Sunday and everything worked just fine. Anchored up for lunch and there was not another boat in the anchorage, we were alone. Something tells me it is going to be a very quiet summer on the water. Diesel is selling for $5.20 / gal. on the Mystic river, yikes. I only burned 260 gallons all last summer so it will not put that much of a burden on me but I surely feel sorry for the boats that burn more fuel per hour than I do or the guys that charter. I hope everyone out there is on the water and you all have a wonderful summer. D
