Every boat owners worst nighmare

Our previous boat, a 31' Camano Troll also namd Nordvika, is the boat on the right at 0:50 on the youtube timer. Wait until 1:50 to see the entire marina in flames and the first large BLEVE (propane) explosion.

By watching the camcorder timer, you can see that the entire marina took less than ten minutes to become completely engulfed.

This was back in 2005, but I was just recently able to get it compressed, edited, and uploaded to YouTube.

Just a note: I did not film this video. It was turned over to the Coast Guard in the investigation and made it's way out to some or all of the owners whose boats were destroyed.

Fire in the hole

Post by RicM »

Yeah that's bad. At Wickford Shipyard this winter there was an old wooden schooner that some one had bought for a dollar with plans to restore it. It was heated with a wood stove with large quantities of fuel piled on deck! Nobody wanted to be next to him at the liveaboard dock. Ironically enough he made it through the winter without self immolation only to break up on the rocks on the way to the restoration berth.

I cringe whenever I see a video related to your fire. Any fire at a marina is devastating. But, as we all know, stuff can be replaced.
