Home made airsep

Post by BetsyPorter »

The breather tube on my Cummins 370 6BTA has the puke tube dropping into the bilge- I am looking to make some kind of puke catcher-our something to keep this happening- without buying the $$$$ airsep and sending it back to the turbo.

Thanks for info!

Have you considered the EnviroVent from Seaboard Marine? Simple, clean and basically maintenance free. Here's a pic of my setup:

ImageI recently addressed this same issue with my twin Yanmar 6LPA-STPs. The factory setup just has an open crank case hose dumping the oily guck right onto the air filter ... come on! The well known solutions (Walker Air-Sep) were cost prohibitive to me. Also, I wasn't concerned with losing a little oil so I felt no need to return the condensate back into the oil pan. I'm not sure I would want to return this gunk into the lubricating oil anyway, although supposedly the outflow from the Walker unit is clean oil. Go to Amazon and search "EVIL ENERGY Oil Catch Can". For $35 you get a great system with multiple fittings. This will be sufficient for many applications like mine and yours, an open vent tube. You may need to spend a couple more dollars to concoct a mount of some kind, but overall it's peanuts compared to the better known touted solutions. Good luck!
