Transom door handle

Following a perfect launch on Saturday I found the transom door handle on the deck. Appears to have been held on with a rivet-type fastener - not a screw or bolt. I don't see a way to re-attach. Has anyone dealt with this before?

In case anybody needs one, Hamilton Marine sells a replacement handle. Installed this past weekend - a perfect fit.
