2010 Haul Out

Post by joe.baar »

Our shaft gland had never been repacked since 1995 and with the pump cycling every 45 minutes it was time. Since the boat needed to be hauled for this work we decided to have the yard do the bottom paint and also remove the old transducer, which was giving really unreliable readings this season. We're replacing it with an in-hull ("shoot-through") Airmar P79 which apparently isn't highly recommended but anything will be better than what was there. Finally, the port-side swim step bracket had a broken weld and we had this repaired, which along with re-bedding the bracket and replacing the galled bolts ended a seeping leak. The bilge is now dry for the first time in years and awaits a good scrub.

Hopefully these resized files will be small enough.
