28 TE Electronic Box

Post by rcornejo »

Can anyone please tell me where I can pick up an electronic box for my 1997 28 TE. I have seen many boats with it but don't know where to go to get it. It is the one mounted over the captain's chair.

Thanks for your help.

They were manufactured by Albin and dealers or owners had the choice of having it installed or not. Some thought it reduced visibility and opted not to have it installed.

Your best bet now is to find an owner who took it out and didn't discard it.

I agree totally with special k about obscuring the helm's field of view. This condition is especially charming when you're maneuvering to enter the lower end of a lock. If I can figure out a way to re-site the compass - which is all the way to starboard in my box and nowhere near the helm's centerline, duhh - and hopefully soon replace the 1996 models of Furuno chartplotter and radar with a Northstar M84 combined unit, then that box will be outta there. This might not happen in a timely fashion because I'm waiting for a Navico director, also a distant relative, to get me a price quote. Rolan, I'll let you know as soon as I find out something more definite. Take care.
