Dave and Sally Field, owners of the 1985 43-ft. Albin flybridge trawler DASAREAN (OK, that's for David, Sally, Rebecca, Andrew), are pleased to join the group. The boat is tucked away for the winter in (naturally) Winterport, Maine, but we just discovered the AOG and wished that we had known about it when we bought the boat seven years ago. We discovered this site by googling "Albin trawler window leaks", which should ring a bell with many of you.

All of the windows leaked when we bought the boat, but we stopped many of the problems with some careful caulking. The problem persists in the case of all of the opening windows with screens. By installing acrylic "storm windows" over all screens, we have proven that all of the leaking is from rain coming through the screens and running down the window tracks, which are in poor shape. Has anyone in the AOG replaced the sliding window tracks on their boats? Where did you find the track material? Was it much of a hassle putting it in? Did this stop the leaking problem? We will be grateful for any advice about this (other than "sell the boat"). Stop by and say "Hello" if you visit Buck's Harbor, Maine, next summer.

Welcome aboard. You have one of the biggest Albins on the site and I am sure after seven years you will have much hard earned knowledge to share. We look forward to hearing from you.

By the way...if you have some pictures of your boat post them in the pictures forum.
