Striped bass reached Boston. Finally.

Post by Legacy »

Had Legacy out on Boston Harbor yesterday. Wind was 15 from the northeast with a decent chop. Water was 52 on the surface. Fished under a good number of birds (gulls, cormorants and terns). Caught a couple of nice, healthy bass in the 24" range casting blue/white bucktails with seaworms. Fished light gear, 8# test. Nothing else got hit but the bucktails. These are the first migration bass for me this season. Very few other reports of fish caught north of the Cape. Nice to see they are starting to arrive. Poor numbers of herring at the traditional runs, hopefully that will pick up. Only a couple other boats out when there would normally be several dozen in the general area. I know it was Mother's Day but fuel prices must have contributed to the low number of boats, $4.44 for diesel and $4.15 for gas.

If anyone has a hankering for early season bass fishing in Boston, happy to have you join me. Just drop me a line.

Tight lines.
