2008 28 TE Radar Install

Post by FNLarry »

Check it out, guys! My radar is back on.
Take a look at the mount I used and where I positioned it. But first, a bit of backstory on why it was off in the first place. During my initial inspection on the boat, I found water intrusion in the cabin top. There was a soft spot about a foot in diameter, and I got moisture readings in about a third of the entire top. Part of the deal was that the old owner had to have it repaired, and I would inspect and approve the work before it shipped.

Since the boat was going to be shipped across the country, I told the fiberglass guy to remove all the hardware, glass over the spotlight, and not reinstall anything for ease of transport. The repairs turned out great, and the fiberglass guy loved not having to reinstall anything after he finished the nonskid.

Now that you know why it was down, here's where and what I used to put it back up! I opted to place my radar dome forward on a SeaView radar mount. It's forward-leaning, 10" high, and has a 4-degree tilt wedge underneath. My thinking is that I'll likely get a tuna tower in the future, so placing it forward made the most sense to me. It also provided a perfect spot for my anchor light.

Let me know what you guys think!
