A Few Details

8 year restoration and upgrade of boat and all systems, inside and out.
Cockpit floor redesigned and reframed, providing stand-up headroom at helm - unheard of in an Albin 25.
Diamond Sea Glaze pilothouse slider-type side windows.
Hard-top panel replaced canvas top in pilothouse.
All new cabin windows and weatherstrip.
All LED lighting, including navigation lights. All cabin reading lights have USB outlets.
Boat and trailer DMV documents are clean and in-hand. No leins.

Extras Included

Teak swim platform, double bench helm seat, DC to AC inverter - included but not installed.
Dock lines, fenders, Danforth anchor... etc.

Of Note

Table is in very good, original condition.
Currently, no stove in galley.
No sink in head compartment (original plastic sink was unusable).
The canvas cockpit cover shows wear and sun fade and is missing a snap or two.
Boat hull and deck gelcoat was never painted but it is not 100% perfect. The boat is 48 years old, after all. I would state that it is in well above average condition for its age.

Wow, beautifully redone, and the woodwork stands out. I can see you take pride in your work and make sure things get done correctly.

Any heat or hot water aboard?

Has it been plumbed for potable water (tank (size?), pump, faucet and drain)?

How about electrical? Shore power connection? Any 120V distribution panel and/or outlets in the cabinets awaiting inverter install?

I see the note on USB outlets being in the lights; however, are there 12V outlets in the rear and front cabins for fans or other accessories?

I've been traveling over 4-yrs in a van and am ready for my next adventure afloat, so I've had plenty of experience with living in a tight space with limited amenities, e.g., first 1.5-yrs without running water. I also redid the house electrical system this year with new LiFEPO4 batteries, inverter/charger, solar charge controller, etc. I appreciate how these projects can take on a life of their own.

All good questions!
Short answers first, then I’ll explain…

No heat.
No hot water.

Fresh water tank? Yes. Potable? Read on…
Galley has Albin designed plumbing system with foot pump, faucet and overboard drain.

Only DC electrics at present.
No shore power but I do have some 30A power cords and adapters I can include.
No 110v wiring or distribution.
The Inverter does have 110v outlets on it. Either 2 or 4 - I’d have to check.

Yes, USB outlets in the base of the reading lights. 2 in the forward cabin and two in the aft cabin.
Yes, 12vdc outlet at helm for hand-held spotlight or USB adapter.

Now, to elaborate…

The boat never had heat (that I am aware of) but I believe Albin offered a diesel fired heater as an option. There must be better, more modern options available today.

Hot water could possibly be added. The engine is fresh water cooled. That could be plumbed to a heat exchanger for a typical hot water system. I chose not to, to keep things simple and original. My idea of hot water would be a “Sun Shower” (the water bag/hose/shower head thing). Or a marina shower.

It has the original Albin fresh water tank in the bow. I have to check the size. I cleaned it and I did install all new hoses and rebuilt the foot pump with new valves and diaphragm. Again, the original Albin design. What I did not do is reinstall the original raw water galley system. I eliminated a through-hull, extra plumbing and pump and the 2nd faucet. All this was just to save fresh water to wash the dishes? With bay water? Uh, no.
For potable water, I would prefer to drink bottled water instead of what is stored in a tank. Just me.

The electrical is as installed by Albin but updated. I replaced the fuse panel with a new Blue Sea panel and busbars and new switches. Originally, no shore power anything. It could always be added. I just chose not to, for now.

My intentions were to get it back to the original Albin build specs, with improvements, of course, but not to overbuild. I have a habit of doing that and this was a way to keep me focused.

For those interested in the "nuts and bolts" kind of things, literally, here is my original copy of my "For Sale" post.

All finish woodwork was either refinished or replaced with marine grade Sapele plywood, as original.
Boat electricals gone through and modernized with all LED lighting, including navigation lights. All cabin reading lights have USB outlets. 12V outlet at helm.
New windshield wipers and motors, port and starboard.
New Origo stainless steel horn.
Twin group 24 dual-purpose batteries (2023) with battery selector switch. All new battery wiring.
All new foam-backed vinyl hull liner, as original.
Galley cabinetry rebuilt with off-white Formica countertop.
Rebuilt Whale galley freshwater foot pump. Seawater foot pump and faucet deleted. New hoses.
All unnecessary underwater through-hull fittings deleted and fiberglassed. Only engine cooling water intake remains underwater. Engine exhaust relocated above waterline.
All new fuel, cooling water and exhaust hoses and clamps. New fiberglass exhaust water lock/muffler and riser elbows. Vetus transom exhaust. All double-clamped.
New Racor water separator fuel filter. New fuel valves.
New Groco seawater strainer for engine cooling system.
New Vetus OEM heat exchanger and raw water pump for engine. New V-belt. New water temp sending unit and temperature gauge.
Stainless steel fuel tank professionally inspected, cleaned, internal baffle rewelded and pressure tested. New tank sending unit and fuel gauge.
Hurth gear (transmission) professionally inspected and rebuilt.
New custom stainless steel drive shaft and coupler and prop reconditioned by S&S Propeller. New Albin composite cutlass bearing. New stuffing box/shaft log hose and stuffing box repacked.
Rebuilt engine beds and pan. Gelcoated pan.
New Teleflex throttle and shift control cables.
New engine box soundproofing.
Dometic portable toilet, to keep things simple. New, never used.
New Cobra VHF radio with Cobra GPS module. Remote 4" speaker at helm.
New 9" display Simrad Cruise GPS, Chart, Depth, Fish-finder. Shoot-through hull transducer installed in keel.
Bilge pumps: Rule 900 GPH low-profile pump under forward cabin bilge access panel, monitored with remote pump cycle counter.
Rule Dry Bilge pump (diaphragm type) under cockpit seating with pickup in keel.
New transom swim ladder - transom reinforced with 1/4" aluminum plates to prevent flexing.
New Beckson cabin vents. Nice, original stainless-steel covers.
New Igloo cooler mounted in cockpit coaming compartment.
Original, classic, white Albin 25 steering wheel.
Fresh blue bottom paint. West Marine CPP ablative type. Per WM: "Out of water storage does not reduce its antifouling effectiveness".
Boat and trailer DMV documents are clean and in-hand. No liens. (NY uses "Transferrable Registrations" for older boats and trailers)

Extras
Teak swim platform and mounting brackets included but not installed. Was on the boat when purchased but was removed during restoration. Small crack needs minor repair.
Double bench helm seat included but not mounted. In very good condition, from my 1984 Albin 27FC.
New Tripp Lite DC to AC inverter included but not installed.
Transferrable Sea Tow membership.
Dock lines, fenders, Danforth anchor... etc.

Of Note
Table is in very good, original condition. Was not refinished.
No stove in galley. Original counter cut-out and stainless-steel pan replicated as per the original Albin design.
No shore power provisions or wiring (as was original from Albin).
DC boat power upgraded with a new Blue Sea fuse panel and busbars (not circuit breakers).
Teak hand rails could use reconditioning or replacing. All teak is naturally gray.
Steering helm and cable were not replaced but are serviceable and in good condition.
Head compartment vent was of little use and was deleted and repurposed as a conduit for horn wiring. Exterior stainless steel vent cover was repurposed to hide horn.
No sink in head compartment. Original plastic sink was unusable.
The Vetus instrument panel was a used unit from a sailboat and shows some scars/scratches.
The canvas cockpit cover shows wear and sun fade and is missing a snap or two.
"New" refers to items purchased during restoration. At most, minimal use during one month of use last season.
Mismatched gel coat tint is visible on dash and helm area and the result of filling old screw holes. Aesthetic only.

I purchased this Albin from the owner of a classic car and boat dealership (mahogany Chris Crafts, etc). He began the restoration process with intentions to use it as his personal boat.
I have been a professional marine mechanic, OMC certified technician, a marine electronics factory repair technician and a new boat rigger for a dealership. I have owned 20 boats personally, throughout the years and have built, modified, repaired or restored each one. I don't do it to make money, because I don't. I do it for a life-long love of boats.
