Re: Pulling Engine Job
There should be plenty of qualified yards nearby. Look for yards that specialize in "re-powering." Mack Boring is a company located in NJ. It is one of if not the largest engine and engine parts suppliers on the east coast. They might be able to point you to a yard nearby that does this work frequently.
Also, be aware that yards that traditionally have done lots of this work, but are now experiencing "staff shortages", (like many business's nowadays) may be turning away work. I live in Maine and own a 2002 32+2 CB and just a week ago was quoted about $12000.00 just to remove my engine and trans.
Also, why do you think the trans is leaking. Is it just a hose going to or from the trans cooler that is leaking, or the cooler itself. That is easy to fix without pulling the whole package. If you suspect the front or rear seal to be leaking, yeah the entire package may need to be pulled. If you do pull the engine and trans... and you have to remove the trans off the back of the engine, do the rear main seal on the engine as well. It's already apart and cheap to do.
Good luck!
