NSC 40 Opening ports

Post by Winterishere »

Just brought back the NSC40 from NJ to my home port in Racine. Wisconsin. Hudson, Erie Canal, that miserable Lake Erie. Detroit River, Lake Huron, and down Lake Michigan.

First things first, and that's opening port leaks. Before I actually remove and re-bed the ports, I would want to replace the gaskets in the port channels.

Does anybody know the manufacturer of the opening ports? Alternatively, has somebody replaced these gaskets? I reckon the channels are 1/4" or 5/16". What's the right material? Silastic? Butyl? EPDM?
Thanks for any replies. I am headed to the boat shortly. I will supply pics to this thread.

Let us know what you find please. I've got one that I've tried adjusting but just can't get it to stop leaking I think the gasket is the next thing to try.

Thanks!

A photo of a port might help identify it.
