Fuel

Post by StockHR »

Just stopped by the boat and noticed a stained area on the ground. In talking to the yard forman he mentioned that when the weather turns warm as it did last week the boats that have topped off for the winter tend to have the diesel expand and it will flow out of the tank vent. I then noticed that the jack stands are causing a slight lean on the starboard side where the vent is located. So if you notice a staining on your hull or a stain on the ground this might be the cause.

Over the years I've always been told to fill 7/8 at winter layup. I guess that is the reason.
