Tropical storm and possible hurricane yesterday: doubled up on dock lines and dogged all hatches and portholes.
Only got a few drops of water inside, 1/10 of cup, next to nothing.
Very pleased with the Albin and all the adult size cleats and how water tight she is.

Yeah, safe and sound.
We have lived here in Fort Lauderdale, on the water for 22 years.
Storms and Hurricanes have become routine, but big pain in the rear.
(It gets on my nerves: Like you know you will be involved in a car crash, or an avalanche, but you don’t know how bad it will be. )
Same with ‘canes, you know it is coming, you try to prepare and hopefully it will be ok.

I got tired of having standing water under the V-berth, so filled it in with thickened resin. First I build a 4" high dam out of Duraglass, located as shown. Then I put two 32-gallon trash barrels on the bow and filled them with water, which added up to about 500 pounds of weight. This trimmed the bow down about 4.5 inches. Then I poured thickened resin forward of the dam until it was almost spilling over it. This amounted to about a gallon of resin. I did this in four pours so it wouldn't generate too much heat. After it cured I sanded down the rough edge of the dam and added a layer of 3/4 oz fiberglass mat and put a finishing coat of pigmented resin on top of it. When I removed the barrels, the top of the filler was sloped aft just enough that it will drain any water that happens to find its way over the dam.

We are a few miles inland, hence we don’t get too much storm surge.
At the most I have seen the water 2-3 inches above my dock planks.
With global warming and rising sea levels, yes, it will be a problem in the future: The City of Fort Lauderdale have a mandatory requirement to raise sea walls and docks about 18” with the deadline being 2035.
2 of my neighbors on the canal has already done it, to the tune of $40k+.
I am holding off, just built a new dock this summer, it will have do for the next 15 years.

With the hot and humid weather in SE Florida I have been running the ship’s air conditioning for 2 months, then used a dehumidifier for the last 6-7 weeks. Hoping the above would cut down on mold.
It did not.
Still had a thin layer of scattered mold on the overhead upholstery in the cabin and the head.
Spent an hour using spray cleaner with a bucket of fresh water and a cloth to rinse. Instant result, this was a good product:

I keep a packet of kitchen wipes aboard for this very same problem - bathroom wipes will do the same since they all have bleach in them but I prefer the smell of the kitchen wipes. Resealable packet, just give the bad area a wipe down every now and then and it will keep the open areas clean since the mould spores are reduced. If you can get the ventilation moving about the cabin, that will help you enormously.

Yeah, got a table fan running 24/7 since I purchased the tub 3 years ago. Also leaving the quarter berth porthole open, but still get mold over a period of a few months.If you can get the ventilation moving about the cabin, that will help you enormously.

I started the thread so everybody could learn from mistakes and improvements. The same questions are being asked over and over again: Bolsters, search lights, windshield vipers, decking, etc.
These boats are in many cases 25 years old and need refits or new equipment. I have linked this thread numerous times to questions asked on the Facebook groups for Albin boats, hopefully it brings new members to the forum, we can all learn from another, no need to reinvent the wheel over and over again.
