For now I'm hoping that a new solenoid and new ignition switch will stave of the inevitable for at least the remainder of this season. I can assure you though that there is no gas powered outboard in my future, at least not on an A-27. Small diesels are definitely the way to go. Now if only I could get a 4hp diesel outboard for my dinghy ...
