Thanks for the idea, Kevin. I think that would work on ours, too. It's an air deck inflatable and might be a little longer than yours.

Our dink is only 8 ft. 9 in. ... I tend to think it helps to keep things a little safer having its length inside the rub rail of the boat. Can't say I've had any experience with it. Also, there's a nifty propane outboard engine by Lehr. That would solve the problem of storing petrol on board.

Time to add a footnote on our dinghy adventures.
The dinghy we had (note past tense here) was a Quicksilver 270. At 9'2", it was longer than the transom of the 28 (8'6") and too big and heavy to easily get onto the pilothouse roof. So we sold it.
We bought a Mercury 200. At 6'6", it's one step up from an inner tube. LOL! But for short trips from anchor to shore, it's adequate. Although John says that it's really not big enough for two people and we should get another one or a raft or something to tow the other person and any shore-related gear - you know - food, beer, chairs, beer, etc.
It weighs 35 lbs, and while I can't lift it over the rail and onto the roof by myself, I can handle it myself in several other ways, most of which involve deflating it. The small size makes it pretty manageable when deflated.
So it's a mixed bag - a series of compromises as always. But I think this will do for now.

The Weaver Davit system pulls the boat up and then pulls away from the dingy transom so that the engine sets upright. MIne is the lesser expensive system but they are available in powered as well. For a small dingy 6' in my case the manual is fine and should work well on the 28te series.

My Two Cents More: The last boat had a 2 hp Honda which was ordered on line. They may be laid down and stored on the one side, It was even marked at to the proper side down. The only issue was leaking fuel. So it is inperative that you tighten the fuel cap down where it has an air event. Other than remembering to jump throught the hoops I see no problem with laying the motor down. The factory manual gives that instruction as well

A low power option that I have exercised is going with an 8'4" rib inflatable (rated at 750#) that fits perfectly on the roof forward of the standard rack. I had to move the EPERB and spot light to clear the roof of course. The shorter hypalon inflatable weighs 72# without the battery and can be lifted manually over the bow by two people pretty easily. For getting around, I use a 47 ft-lb trolling motor powered with a marine battery.
