Rob:
I can't remember the exact color right now, but I will be on the boat later this week and get back to you in a few days. I sanded all of the bad areas to the metal and primed with Interlux Interprotect 2000 (two part primer). I am brushing the finish coat. I am also painting the doors to the house. I am satisfied with the end result. Its not perfect, but I think it looks good enough for me. I'll give you some more details and try to take a few photos when I get the job finished.

Re: 28 TE Windshield trim
I found that American Marine manufactured windows for the Albin 28 TE from 1993 until approximately 2001. From 2001 to 2008 Bomar manufactured Albin’s windows with radius corners and Aluminum 2000 made the mitered cornered windows. I haven't gone down the road of replacement yet but I'm getting close. I'm waiting for a quote.

Re: 28 TE Windshield trim
Along the same line, although my frames look decent ....the white rubber window frame inserted seals on the 28TE that I just purchased, all look horrible. Is there any way to restore these? Are the available as a replacement part?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: 28 TE Windshield trim
My window frames are corroded, bubbling and flaking, mostly in corners and around screws.
Looking at different avenues: First I contacted the Maker, looks like American Marine made the Albin window frames back in the day.
They are still in business and a :30 - :40 minute drive from my dock.
Send them pictures and measurments for an estimate on 10 new frames.
$5,892.00
Don’t think I will go that route.
Talked to Jas Powder Coating here in Fort Lauderdale, they will sandblast and powdercoat all 10 frames for $550.
The backside of that route is uneven and corroded aluminum surface defects that the paint and primer will not cover up. (Can’t use filler when powder coating due to baking @ 400 degrees.)
I may take the worst frames to a metal shop and have them fill the corroded areas with aluminum weld, then sand and polish.
Another option is a local contractor who can make new frames in plastic. Should be cheaper and almost maintenance free, but he has not come back with an estimate yet, guessing somewhere in between.
Fort Lauderdale is an expensive town full of mega yachts, hence some of the contractors are charging mega yacht prices: Got an estimate for painting the hull sides flag blue the other day, $17,500. (Do we have an icon for shaking head and rolling eyes at the same time?)

Re: 28 TE Windshield trim
Several years ago I replaced the front and side sliding windows with tinted glass, not window tinting film which does not last in the salt spray. Threw the old rubber trim pieces away. Bedded and caulked the tinted windows in with 3M UV4000 adhesive/sealant. No more trim shrinkage, no more leaks. Also replaceable if the future requires it. A little sloppy to work with but by the time you have replaced the windows you will get the hang of it.
