My wife, Linda, and I are looking forward to meeting some Albin owners. It sounds like last years gathering was a lot of fun. We've only owned our Albin 28 TE since last May and we're excited about going to Essex. We're located in Northport Harbor on Long Island's north shore and it will be our longest trip so far.

Linda & Cliff,
There are a number of folks coming from the LI area. There will be lot's of chatter as the event approaches and I'm sure that you can find someone to convoy with if you like. The nice thing is that everyone's boat cruises at about the same speed! LOL. We started out doing short trips and then going further and further. We've now been all over Cape Cod, to Boston, The Vinyard, LI and this winter our 28 TE is living in Jensen Beach FL. Last month we went across FL on the Okeechobee waterway, and next month I'm taking her to Islamorada in the Keys (see the Southern Venture thread).
The Rendezvous last year was a great group and Essex is a great place to visit, very beautiful, and I'm sure we'll have plenty of fun this year as well.

Dee & Don,
It was fun wasn't it? Karen & I are looking forward to it also. We'll start the formal sign-up sheet here soon. I need to get a deposit to EIM May 1st which is not far away.

Good for you. I am actually, happily boating at the moment, in Jensen Beach FL. I shipped my boat down in November and have been coming down for about a week each month. Been down here since Saturday, fished yesterday, and heading for the keys later today.

The Joint Venture (John & Marcia) are in - arriving Monday the 19th and leaving Monday the 26th. Essex has the same deal as last year, stay 7 nights pay for 5 , computes to $3.35/night for the 31. Looking forward to another enjoyable rendezvous.

John: We sold our 28TE, Hideaweigh, Monday and are looking at a 31TE. This boat has some cosmetic issues and among them is that the fasteners that hold the doors open have been damaged/gone. I wonder if you could do me a favor and take a digital pix of what they should look like and email to me. We fully expect to be at Essex, and will be back with our new/old Hideaweigh for the shark tournament at Snug Harbor in June.email
2sieben@att.net. Many thanks if you can do this, and thanks anyway for showing Ann and I your boat at the Block Island Albin gettogether. Stayed in my mind. Dave
Legacy may be joiing you!

YEE HAH. With the economy turning, my wife Colleen and I may be able to make it this year. (Yep, last 12 months the advertising business stunk!) So we've been close to home, but if the upward trend continues we'll be at our cottage in Guilford, CT with Legacy a few days before the rendezvous. Hope to make it!

Rick,
Good to hear that things are looking up. I have been extremely lucky thoughout this mess and am VERY thankful. We have had other challenges this winter, flooding in our rental next door, my mother's passing just last week etc. These challenges pointed out to me that every moment is to be enjoyed and cherished, with or without money. Essex has been the light at the end of this dark tunnel for me, and I can't wait to see all my Albin friends again.

John,
Glad to have you. You can contact Essex Island Marina directly and reserve your slip. Tell them the dates you plan to stay and that you are with the Albin Owners Group and they will assign your slip with the rest of us. Dawn at the marina is a good point of contact. It's great to hear about a rendezvous! We are new members and have never been to one before. We can be added to the attendance list. Is there anything else we need to do? Are there planned activities? Should we tell the marina we are part of the Albin Owners Group?Although we don't know anybody, we are looking forward to it. Maybe we'll see some of the people we've met along the way!

Linda and I are planning to attend the rendezvous and look forward to meeting people we know only through posts in this forum. I'll make reservations at Essex Island as soon as OTTER is launched and all systems are go.

Barb & Dave,
Welcome. I plan to update the list later today. Karen & have had Time after Time (TaT in many posts) for 4 seasons now. The first full year we owned TaT we went to the Rendezvous in Boston Harbor. Karen was a somewhat reluctant attendee as she was picturing lecture sessions from engine mechanics, silly hat contests and the like. After a full weekend of fun, fishing and adventure (Massimino's in the North End) she was hooked. This is a very laid back group, with the only real organized activity last year being the Saturday night cookout and a demonstration of baton twirling by one of Rob S's daughters. Essex is a great place to visit by boat, a truly beautiful "Olde New England Village". We did a day trip up the river to Hamburger Cove, a delightful and scenic "swimmin'" hole, and rafted up 5 boats and swam, had lunch, and generally had a great time. Some people socialize constantly, others relax, read, and chill. Socialization tends to happen in the middle of the dock, chillin' on the fringes, so you may want to pick a slip based on your social/privacy index.
Specifics:
The contact person at EIM is Dawn,
http://www.essexislandmarina.com/
Tell them you are with the Albin Group
You'll need to send a deposit for 1 night to hold a slip (You can give a CC# over the phone)
They have a deal if you stay 3 nights you get the 4th night free I believe
