Starter battery removal

Post by DiverTony »

While replacing the starboard Lenco hatch lift, I noticed the starter battery or batteries were located next to the lift bracket and under the decking. They are really packed in there so tight, I can't even lift the battery box cover. How on earth do you remove them for inspection and replacement? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I cut the box so that I could slide the starter battery out. Basically 2 straight cuts on the sides facing aft. Makes a flap. Replaced the battery and taped the box back up.

Were there any issues with the cable length when sliding battery aft? I noticed a strip of starboard on the shelf. Was thinking of unscrewing and sliding whole box aft.

I disconnected the cables prior to removing the battery.
