Yanmar 315 WOT
We have just purchased a 2000 28TE with Yanmar 315. WOT is showing 4550 RPM and 20 knts. Has 19x17 cupped prop. RPMs seem high but it might be the gauge. Any suggestions.

Re: Yanmar 315 WOT
Welcome aboard and congratulations!
The problem could very well be the tachometer. The simplest thing would be to check WOT with a digital tachometer. It's kind of fun and they're not expensive. We got this one in 2014, and omg, the price is lower now! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001N4QY66/ When does that happen??
You might also want to check the dip switches on the tach to make sure they're set properly. The tach on our 35CB read quite high, and I eventually discovered that the dip switches were set totally wrong.

Re: Yanmar 315 WOT
That’s definitely off and based on your speed it’s not accurate. Check the wires on the sender first and clean those connections. On the te model its port side in the front of the motor (the side of the engine closest to the bow)
