Cabin Reading Light Replacements - A25

Post by cmoffatnc1 »

Has anyone had any luck finding something similar to the small metal lights with frosted glass lens? Two of ours are missing and we'd like to find something similar. Thanks in advance.

Are these the lights you are referring to? I removed them from our first A25, a 1970 model. I do not see a switch on them.

Ours has a pair of small brass 12v reading lamps, one attached to the front wall of the hanging closet on starboard side, the other on the front wall of the galley cabinet. They used G4 prong plug bulbs, easily switched to LED. Very handy for reading at night while laying on the sette/V berth. Search Amazon for "marine reading lamp 12V" lots to choose from.

Search Skandvik for overhead dome lights.

Thanks, not the overhead dome light. DA described the lights were are looking for. We also have one in the head.

What was the lighting in the aft cabin? We have wires on the very back wall (inside of transom), but not lights. I assumed they were the same as in the forward cabin.

I believe a small overhead aft cabin dome light was OEM stock. Anything else is likely owner mods. Previous owners added a shallow shell unit to the aft wall of our aft cabin that has a pair of small aftermarket reading lights on the side ends of the shelf unit so one could read while laying in one of the quarter berths.

Thanks DA. Makes sense seeing the wiring associated with them.
