Air Condition

Post by tmoran »

We splashed our 31 TE yesterday. Everything checked out except the air conditioner. It is a Ocean Marine unit model SCR5016.OR with an "OCM Onboard Climate Master" control panel. As a new owner last summer we have limited experience with operation of the AC unit. During start-up the unit cut out and there appeared to be an error message on the control panel. When I searched through what manuals I have for vessel I did not have a manual for AC unit and control panel. I tried looking on the Internet but could not find anything. Does anyone have any direction they can provide.

Cheers

I don't know your unit, but here's what I'd try.

1. Make sure AC sea cocks are open and any strainers are clear
2. Make sure intake is not plugged with algae or other debris (ours got plugged repeatedly by jellyfish last year)
3. check all electrical connection (wire brush and CorrosionX them anyway)
4. Examine hoses, fittings and vents
5. Shut system down and restart

Good luck!

Make sure you also have water flowing out the discharge thru hull. Mine will lose the prime sometimes and I have to "bleed" the air out of the system.

Yeah, I would check to make sure it's primed. There's probably a procedure for this, but I suppose one method to prime it would be to simply put a garden hose up to the outlet through-hull and fill it with water.

Hey Tim
.... I have the Ocean Marine system and the OcM control on my Albin as well. Ocean Marine is out of business, but I do have the manual/trouble shooting guide & schematics. As always happy to share with my fellow Albin Owners. Send me a PM or e-mail and I can fax or scan and e-mail them to you.

Some common fault codes: PPP - low water flow LPF - low pressure freon
LAC - low AC voltage

Pitou,
If you don't mind send me a copy of that manual. I'm working on the library.

Thanks,
John

Got it working.

Appears to have been a vapour lock on the circulation pump.

It appears without the circulation pump running the air conditioner shuts down to protect itself.

Thanks

As John says Good News". I'm happy to hear ...... an easy solution.

Here is a link to a previous thread started by Gary on "NAUTIQUE"viewtopic.php?t=1505&highlight=pump read it through as SpaceCoaster had a great solution to this problem. I have not yet installed the "T" and am sure I'll grumble "should have ......" when it happens to me again ... and it will.
