I was responding to your post. I do like the job you did but still wondering if sitting on the slopped by of the hull will create a problem later on. For the small amount of extra room I think I will reorder the original fridge and save myself that part of the work. Thanks for the info though.

You were able to fit the 49 in your refrigerator spot? I have a 2005 Flush Deck TE and when I measured it looks like it will not fit because the way the hull starts going up. Did you have to modify anything?

Yes, see pictures above: Have to cut a bigger opening as the new fridge is deeper and rides higher due to the sloping hull: I cut an inch, but it was not quite enough, now using a flat file to go up another few millimeters. Also have to elevate the floor as the installation manual specifies the box have to sit on it’s rubber feet.
Got side tracked today with something totally unrelated, but will continue the project tomorrow.

And all ye who are replacing refrigerators, take Dag's lesson to heart. Measure twice - or six times - depth especially - and take into account flush mount vs. proud mount. For my boat, the Isotherm CRUISE 49 Clean Touch Stainless Steel was too deep to fit due to flush mount. The many models are confusing.

Yes, good idea but it may sound worse than it is: I have been using the boat during this installation: We go for a cruise once a week come hell or high water: Need to exercise the boat to keep growth off the prop and to keep all the system fresh.
Have not been working on the fridge every day either, took a few breaks here and there, got all the time in the world now..

Not sure you can reorder the original fridge: I looked at the new Norcold
compact fridge, which was my first choice, but it would not fit as the back wall and the bottom is perfectly square whereas the Isotherm slopes up at a 30-40 degree angle, sort of to meet the slope of the hull.
I doubt it it will cause problems in the future as the fridge on my boat is resting on the elevated floor rather than on the sloped hull, but only time will tell.

Testing new fridge with wire-less sensors:

This reading at max power: 7 on the dial.
Lowest temperature obviously freezer compartment
Highest temperature ambient in cabin with no Air Condition running.
The medium temperature is the main refrigerator compartment.

Finishing touch is the louvered vent below the fridge, Attwood #6031497, ordered on Amazon: Had to use a belt sander to trim off 3-4 mm’s to make it flush (0.157 inches)

The thermometer in previous Picture was also purchased on Amazon, comes with 2 remote sensors, about $23.
Probably not necessary, but being a control freak I kind of dig having information on my finger tips.

Thinking back on this project and what I could have done different to save time and work: First of all, time is of no importance these days, got lots of time. Work is also good, labor of love and not being paid by the hour, or at all.
That being said, even if I measured 7 times, It would still be difficult or next to impossible to get it right on the first cut because of the hull slope, AND the slope of the fridge: An engineer with 3D software could figure it out and get it right the first time, for the rest of us, not so easy as you can‘t ram the fridge in the opening to see where it will touch/hit
in the back without making a cut.
Yes, good idea getting a smaller fridge that may slip right in: The next one down from the 49 is a 42 liter Isotherm: I wanted the biggest and most efficient I could put my hands on even if it took more work.
So here we are: Happy with the product, happy with the installation, all good, no regrets despite lots of work and several cuts.

Ha, don’t knock Coors Light until you tried it:
1) it is the best of the worst, or least disgusting.
2) I have been drinking high octane German beer all my life, but had to try the light stuff as I was gaining weight after I passed 55.
3) Now I can sit in the shade all afternoon sipping Coors Light without getting fat or drunk, just a slight little buzz that can immediately be boosted with 2 glasses of wine, or 2 Vodka/Tonics,.(shaken, not stirred)
4) Drink whatever you want and I will do the same.

Hahaha. The Coors brewery is just down the road from me, well it was until it closed down. I’ll stick to the french lagers when I’m on the boat tied up somewhere as I won’t touch a drop when underway!

There's the rub. No need to go to a 42. Different models of the 49's are different depths. The devil's in the details.

If I remember correctly, no. I had to cross-reference at least three different documents to figure it out. And I called Isotherm a few times. Very confusing.

I did a fair amount of study as well before purchasing
the 49 Elegance
I was pretty sure it was the same dimension as yours and others who installed the Isotherm Cruise 49. Now I am not so sure anymore.
Here is a chart showing the depth as 18.5“, when I bought it the dimensions were given as 17.5 “ behind the flange plus another 2” for the door.

Oh well, done deal but tight fit.
Would I do it again? Absolutely: When we anchor for days at the time with no generator, the solar panel need to run the whole operation and the 49 elegance is the most efficient model with extra insulation and and some electronic magic to reduce the consumption of amp/hrs.
