2008 28 TE Flush Deck Air conditioning

Post by tperricone »

I am adding Air Conditioning to my Albin 28 TE flush deck. It will operate shore power only no generator. I am looking for suggestions on where to place the unit. When installed from the factory where is it placed.

Search posts from RobS for his install on Air Conditioning. That should be helpful.

As described above, here is a picture of the factory install in my 2004 - 28TE.

The air duct comes off at the lower right of Pitou's picture, comes through the space under the starboard seat against the midship wall, makes a 90 deg turn and comes up the hull against the forward wall of the hanging locker. My duct ends at a register flush on the shelf behind the seat but if you have a built in cabinet there, the duct makes another 90 deg turn and comes out vertically. Since mine ends horizontally I put a 12 v fan above the register to help circulate the air coming out. Of course there are a lot of other options depending on how creative you want to get with the ducting. I also made a plywood shelf with a solid side support to fit over the duct in the space under the seat so that things we store there don't smash or puncture the duct.
