Also, what's the stern tube outside diameter on these? I'm going to switch to Tides and get rid of this problematic PSS.

I wish we'd done that when we had the engine out of our boat a couple of years ago.

I'm getting hauled on Monday, going to pull the bearing housing and replace cutlass and install the Tides seal. Found out the OD of the stern tube is 2.5". I'm concerned that when I go to remove bearing housing that it won't come free if the stern tube is glued to it since i have now epoxied the top of the tube to the hull. Anyone (Nancy) have any idea if it is one piece?

The bearing housing should be bedded with sealant .. 4200 or 5200. I can't see how the epoxy would have migrated.

Thanks, I'm thinking it will come out. I was worried that the epoxy I put on at the top of the tube would keep the tube from coming out as one with the bearing housing, but if it is just a chemical bond then should be able to pull bearing housing leaving stern tube in place and clean up and re-install. I found a new bearing housing on ebay (new old stock) so I bought it just in case my assembly is corroded or worn. Thank you.

My bearing housing was pretty bad, installed new one after knocking shaft out and putting on new tides seal. By the way the bolts holding the bearing housing are 3/8" 16, 3" long if anyone needs to order bronze ones for the job, I went back with stainless and put a anode on housing, going to find one that fits better next haul out. All in all, not too bad of a job, next for me is to fill the keel with arjay.
