Greetings from Maine

Post by Fortunate »

My family and I are new to the Albin cult that seems to exist and are proud of it.

Although our 27FC we purchased in June is fairly moderate compared to most of your Albins, it has been a great transition from the center console we previously had.

Hopefully this is the 1st of many years of us enjoying cruising the mid coast region of Maine.

H...We are up in Maine as well with our TE28...We are in Belfast, and hope to see you on the water next summer......Though as I sit here with 10" to 12" of snow falling, it is hard at the moment to imagine next summer!

Anyway....welcome to the group.

Hi,

Welcome aboard! We purchased our A27AC (or FC, people have different IDs for the aft cabin boat)) in Sept. 2006.

Love the boat. Unfortunately, at almost 70, we're pretty set in our ways and the 27 is a bit small to accomodate some of things we think are needed for cruising, like a genset and freezer. We're looking at the Albin 35 Command Bridge or similar size.

We live on Lake Lanier in GA, but keep the 27 on the TN River which keeps us from being land locked. Had hoped to get down to the Gulf of Mexico this year. Didn't make it, but it's on our schedule for next year.

Good luck with your boat,

Gene

Fisham,

We are getting nailed as well. We are down the coast from you a couple of hours in Georgetown. They're predicting 10"-20" before the storm is over.

A friend's dad when living in Bath had kept his sailboat in Georgetown at Robinhood Marina the home of the Robinhood 33. I keep threatening to "one of these days" make this a stop over point. From what I understand you're in a terrific area.

Pitou,

We will actually be keeping Fortunate at RMC next year. We missed the cut this year as the purchase was a spur of the moment decision when she who must be obeyed said "why don't you make an offer" unexpectantly!

Anyway, we didn't get on the water until June and kept it at my friend's "Kennebec Tavern and Marina" in Bath.

I've been on the island since I was 4, 33 years and counting. It is very nice except for the mosquitos that tend to be the size of hummingbirds.

I've found the bugs tend to keep the rif, raf out 8) . I deal with the dreaded marsh greenhead from the 4th until 2nd week of August.
If we make it to RMC I'll look you up.

I notice some folks have pictures beside thier information when posting. This seems pretty cool, but I cannot seem to make it happen.

Any tips?

When you're logged in click on profile at the top of the page this will bring you to your profile set-up page. Down towards the bottom is the upload area for your avator. You will probably have to resize the image to fit the size requirements. If you do not have a resize program Windows has one on their site for free. I hope this helps. There are others on this board who are very tech saavy.
