Flashing red light????
OK, here we go - inside the cabin, next to the AC/DC panel is a disc. Right now, for me, it is flashing red. The batteries are off. Anybody got an idea?????? Must be important.

No, wife deep-sixed the camera and we haven't got a new one yet. Just bought 2 new batteries in July, took them out and tested them Sept 1st. We are closing all the thru-hulls when we get in now, which means a journey down below - nothing found then (smoke). Have had all the hatches open for days and had just come in (carbon dioxide). I'll try hooking up to shore power. All I know is a flashing ANYTHING probably means $$$$$.

My thinking on the battery powered detectors is that they often start flashing when the battery starts to die, not an alarm condition.
I don't really think that's what your light is - I just don't have any other guess right now...

Check Batteries
If you just installed 2 new batteries I would check the battery polarity. Maybe disconnect the batteries and see what happens on shore power....

Flashing red lights on boats can mean a lot of things. Even if the batteries are off or disconnected, most emergency systems have backups. Posibilities include:
High water alarm
Bilge pump activation alarm
CO2 alarm (low battery or CO2 detected)
Low fuel alarm
Engine overheat alarm
Propane alarm (low battery or propane detected)
Key on alarm (common on diesels)
