The Volvo MD3B engine is raw water cooled so isn't capable of sending engine water to a heat exchanger to heat domestic water, so my only option is a hydronic system which will also heat air for the cabin.

Welcome, Hortense! A little factoid: It is said that 2000 Albin-25's were exported to North America. We converted from sail to power 8 years ago and our 1976 Albin -25, the Du NORD has been upgraded about as much as planned, except for adding a hard top over the cockpit. She is powered by her original Volvo-Penta MD17C.

Renewing the textured coating to the cabin sides with Rustoleum bleached stone textured finish.

Very nice. How much of a texture does the finish have?

Couple of things:
- paint: brush on a self-levelling paint product, using the roll n tip method. Basically, you drag a dry brush lightly over the rolled section to remove the bubbles and bristles ridges. The result is much better and less fraught with danger of overspray than sprayed. Lots of info on the technique if you google it.

Improvements: FWIW mine were: bow windlass; fake Rocna anchor; top-loading refrigeration; 265W solar panel; refurb electrical including golf cart house batteries; Nice big cushion. streamline the fueling system, flushing the fuel tank. Painted the deck. new curtains and curtain clips.

If you can wait until April I will be coming to Windsor, and will hand carry a burgee to you rather than have you hand over 15.86 to the Chancellor of the Exchequer (always one of my favourite titles BTW) for customs fees - this is excessive, and almost smacks of Albin-envy.

Very nice. How much of a texture does the finish have?

The finish is fairly rough but covers the fibreglass matting beautifully.
Masking off was easy enough but had to be removed quickly as the paint caused the tape adhesive to go very slimy !

As for the burgee - I paid the government their tax and collected the goods. it's worth so much now I will now preserve it with waterproofing treatment and only fly it in warm dry conditions and keep in a vacuum sealed glass case at all other times.

How did you attach it?

I used a contact adhesive brushed onto the hull and a spray contact adhesive on the back of the lining material. Not much wriggle room once attached so not the easiest of jobs.
The worst part was getting rid of the old adhesive and foam with a wire brush on a drill.
