PEX fittings and clamps work on 1/2" water lines

Hi Folks,

I recently wanted to add 90 deg elbows and inline-shutoffs to my fresh water lines. I was adding a 5" water filter to improve my water taste and stop small bits of goo from plugging up the house water pump intake screen. I have the tools for PEX, so I tried the fittings and clamps. They Fit!
This means we can use all the nifty PEX fittings for 1/2" line....T's, Elbows, valves, etc. And, the clamps will never loosen and leak! Awesome.

Now, for those who've never used PEX; there's two styles of clamps: Crush copper rings and SS crimp/ clamps. Forget the copper rings; the required tool is BIG $.
The tool for the crimp clamp is reasonable, works on all the sizes of PEX from 3/4 down, and the clamps can be removed (and destroyed) with dikes if you must. The clamps are cheap. The tool, clamps and fittings are often available in your local hardware store, and definitely at Lowes / Home Depot.

You can buy all the parts as John Guest fittings. In fact any 1/2" bore (15mm outside diameter) push fit system will work.
