I think that would vary greatly based on the hourly charge your local yanmar tech charges. Would prob get a better idea by calling a few local shops. Where are u located

The estimate I got for this job was around $3,200 because they recommended replacing the timing belt and tensioner at the same time as we were at Yanmar's recommended time interval. The estimate included changing the oil, new primary and secondary fuel filters, and replacing the air filter. Final project ended up a lot more because they found worn cam shaft bearings and leaking sea water pump. Also cleaned with ultrasonic cleaner, reassembled, painted and installed the engine oil cooler, heat exchanger, air cooler and transmission oil cooler. My first reaction to the added work was skepticism, but I went down and talked with the mechanic and saw the things they were talking about, and I was glad I decided to have the valve guide seals done because the other things they found would definitely have been a bigger problem down the road.

Though I had the valve guides replaced over 5 years ago I had my 6LP pulled two years ago to replace the timing belt. Very glad I did as there were rust spots, weak hoses, leaky water pump, partially clogged intercoolers and several other issues that I never would have found without pulling the engine. My mechanic, whom I trust totally, told me that rust, worn hoses, poor cooling, etc will shorten the life of a diesel engine much more often that high hours. I agree.

Did not have a need to do valve seals. However, on Nibbles my former 35te both timing belts and tighteners were replaced on the twin 315 Yanmar's along with full service of both engines and transmissions and engine zincs for just barely over 2,000.00 that just two years ago now.
