Additional Holding Tank

Post by jetter »

I have not had a hot water tank on board for the past 4 seasons and do not miss it. (Fresh water boating, so transom shower not required). What I do need is increased holding tank capacity. I'm considering the addition of a second tank in the space I have avaiabile here hot water tank was. The two tanks would be linked. Has anyone had experince with two tanks integrated into one system?

Another place you could put the additional tank is hold between the helm seats. We have a genset in there, but on several that we looked at before buying this one. That was a wide open space and seemed like an easy plumbing job from that location. Just a thought.

Makes perfect sense to me - the tank size could be quite considerable with the added improvement on centre of gravity. I'd think you'd have to pump out from there though.

I considered a tank between the helm seats but currently use the space for storage. Its also handy to have access to transmission and transponders without a tank in the way. I figure I can get an additional 10 to 12 gals of capacity with a second tank where the hot water heater was. Should be able to tee off the pump out hose. This would also allow me to leave all the overboard pumping gear in place in case the boat ever goes salty.
