Removal of Beckson ports outisde trim ring?

Post by TomA »

Our 1999 32 + 2 Command bridge has all Beckson ports. The caulking around the exterior trim ring has deteriorated on a number of the ports, and I wanted to remove the ring and re-bed them. It does not appear that the outside ring is attached in any way to the inside trim? Has anyone removed them and what is involved? Note the inside trim ring is installed in an upholstered wall surface and do not want to damage the upholstery material during the removal.TomA

If the same as the ports on the 28TE the exterior trim ring is not mechanically fastened, just adhered to the fiberglass with adhesive sealant. It can be worked free without damaging it, especially if the sealant is deteriorated. Here's some pics from when I removed and rebedded a port on T-R
