Peninsular service in Annapolis/Baltimore ?
With so many 28 TEs on the Chesapeake, who services the 6.5Ls ?

I would call peninsular diesel directly. They are very helpful.

I did call Peninsular. They say the nearest service tech they know of is in Norfolk. I suspect that there are at least a dozen 28TEs too far away from Norfolk to use that solution. I doubt these owners are doing more than oil changes.

Hopefully John will chime in here as he owns one and has had a local mechanic work on it.

They are simple engines to work on. Any marine diesel mechanic can work on them. I bet a regular mechanic that has experience with 6.5 diesel engines can repair it. What problems are you having?

We haven't bought the boat yet since we know the pain of owning a 250 hp V6 outboard with no service closer than 150 miles. So far, a dozen marine diesel mechanics have told me they don't want to work on Peninsular. I'm still phoning and asking.

Re: Peninsular service in Annapolis/Baltimore ?
Anyone that can work on a 6.5 L diesel car engine can work on a peninsular. Those mechanics are morons if you want my opinion. My mechanic has no problem with mine, although I do most of the work on them. They are very simple engines.

Re: Peninsular service in Annapolis/Baltimore ?
I bought my 28te with a 6.5 last year in Annapolis, local mechanics are Yanmar snobs and even during survey the Hot shot mechanic from Bert Jabins yard, said "it ran fine, and I can't find anything wrong but I hate these engines" ??I live in Ct, it still runs fine, my local mechanic has no problem working on it, so far it only needs maintenance, fluids changed etc, parts are cheap and come in a day or three,

Pete: who do you have in Groton to work on your Peninsular?
