Sticky bilge pump float switch

Hi everyone

The float switch on my A27 is causing problems, keeps getting stuck in the on position.

It is a Rule brand; I'm getting tired of reaching down into the bilge with a yard stick to turn it off.

I was wondering if anyone has experience with the newer electronic switches? Are they more reliable than the old float version? Any particular recommendations?

I used West Marine citrus bilge cleaner and it seemed to free up the float switch quite nicely after it stuck in the on position due to a buildup of sludge in the bilge. I now use it 2-3 times per year and haven't had a problem since. Smells good too.

Thanks DJ I'll give it a try, certainly easier to splash some stuff down there than to put a new switch in!

I had the same problems. I purchased a Water Witch Electronic Bilge switch model # 101 cost $29.99. This was in May of this year and since I installed it I have not had a single problem. I purchased it on E-Bay. Good luck!

second that. I fitted one in the shower sump. Excellent little bit of kit.
