28 TE table adjustment

Post by Jack »

table column.jpg
After taking two of my grandchildren for a ride on the boat, I found the adjustment knob on the deck of the cabin along with an insert that the knob screws into. When I touched the table column, an additional component fell out. From the indent on that piece (which has one side that curves to sit better with the column), it looks like a spacer piece. When I tried to re-insert the two components and thread the knob back in, they wouldn't fit. Any ideas on how to get them back in there? There are two photos to show the column and the three components.
Thanks.

I ended up unscrewing the base from the deck to make this easier. The knob threads first into the piece with the hole and presses the other piece against the movable post.

With the movable post in lace you slide the solid piece up into the opening on the bottom of the fitting until it drops into the square hole (that you can't see) and rests against the movable post. Then you slide the piece with the hole up behind the solid piece until you can see the screw hole, and then screw in the knob. Tighten the knob firmly.

To avoid problems going forward you will want to just SLIGHTLY loosen the knob to move the table. If you loosen it too much the solid piece can back out off it's place and jam. My family STILL tells stories of me trying to force the table to go down!

Good luck!
