A sad incident in the tragedy of the HMS Bounty during hurricane Sandy, but a lesson to be learned. I always keep 2 spares for the Racor and 1 for the engine. Thankfully I have never needed to change filters while on the water and only at fall decommissioning. Best to be prepared.

You can't have enough spares. Guy last year bought myn 32; ran it from LI NY to Portland ME non stop. Outside of Portland, engine started acting up; sucking crap from the near empty tank. He changed the filters twice and made it in fine. Oh, did I mention his real job is running a 100' commercial boat out of New Bedford. Spends more time at sea in a year, than most of us will in our lifetime!
