LED Combination Masthead

Post by RobS »

Has anyone replaced the factory installed Perko Fixed Mount Combination Masthead with an LED model? A quick search reveals no direct replacement in combination style and I hate to spend the money on changing out the 2 festoon bulbs and 2 discolored lenses and still have an old fixture..

I'm looking around for this as well - I've found the port/starbord LED replacements for the bow, as well as the stern light (I think) - but the masthead is a mystery. I thought briefly about LED festoon replacements but I don't think they'll even fit in that masthead - and that's the one I really want to reduce the electrical load on. I'll let you know if I find anything, please do the same if you do.

I have replaced all the bulbs on my 28 TE with LED bulbs including the Masthead. Very inexpensive off Ebay or Amazon and have performed well.

Here is an LED model. It comes with a pole so not sure if the head can just be removed and put on the existing mast.

And Amazon carries them

West has them also.

I had come across that one as well but was looking to keep the combination feature.

Matt,

So that is a 3-wire combo light. I came across that one a few times and did not realize it. The description never indicated such. POOR job on their part in not making that clearer, GREAT job on your part for checking the tech specs further.

My masthead light has gone intermittent. So I thought I would replace it, get something that is not corroded. However it does not budge, so the wires are preventing me form figuring this thing out. As far as I know the wires go through the arch, and who know were.

I have seen lights on poles for sale, both Attwood, and Perko, but no lights by them selves. Seaview make light bars for the radar arch, but they use a special light size, from Attwood/Perko. (Seaviw light bars and lights come with a 7 foot wires)

Has anyone replaced this light successfully?

I bought this and simply removed the light from the stem and installed it on my existing mast.

Did your light just come off when you pulled it off? How much rewiring did you get into?

There is a small philips set screw on the back of the light fixture. I had just enough wire at the fixture to cut and butt connect (heat shrink type) right at the fixture.
