36ET Transom Door

Post by afrayedknot »

My transom door is extremly tight and is hard to open and close - the outside edge rubs against the transom. Does anyone have a similar situation or do you have a solution? Thanks.

Have you checked to make sure your hinges aren't loose or starting to fail? The door on my 28 sagged, (I think they stored a small outboard on it), due to the hinges shifting. Check the upper hinge first, it's the one holding most of the weight.

Ours does this, but it is just wearing in the hinges. If you lift the door slightly, it opens and closes smoothly. I'm sure this could be fixed, but I haven't had the time to investigate it.
