Here is some information on The Beast.

In some parts of our global market people expressed their dislike for the name - "The Beast". For as many as didn't like the name, just as many did. The decision was made to remove the name from the engine and we no longer use it. The Beast, at the time was a 280-285 horse engine. In our current catalog of marine diesel engines it would now be the 400TA-310, which is a 310 horsepower turbo-charged engine coupled with a Mercury Bravo stern drive.
