Look what followed me home

This followed me home one day last week.
Possibly difficult to recognize, but this is (or at least WAS) a Cummins 6BT 210 that survived a boat fire.
I found it on Craig's list and ended up paying $300 for it.
This or at least part of this engine, is part of my repower project I have been collecting parts for. I need the marine accessories that are still salvageable such as flywheel, bellhousing, etc. I easily got my money's worth in parts.
This will be a great compliment to the 1989 pickup truck 6BT I have been housing for 2 years that will become the base engine.
Actually I think the burned base engine is fine inside. It barred over easily. I may try to start it before I take it apart.
Stay tuned. My goal for this winter is to piece together a complete marinized engine tweaked to approximately 200/220 hp to replce the 120 Lehman in my trawler.

Reminds me of my antique garden tractor hobby, coming home with something on the back of the truck to hear " You actually paid for that ?! "

Nice find.

Boat fires rarely leave the boat floating. Was this engine submerged?

Rob,
Wow! I had to look twice at the logo on that new seat. Beautiful.
Do you sell them when restored or do you keep them?
Here's one of my projects from a few years ago. Helped pay for the Albin!

No. I did not get submerged. It bars over nicely.
But I bought it for the marine parts. I already have a 1989 pick up truck Cummins with only 100,000 on it that runs mint.
This marine engine is circa 1986/87 with unknown hours. I bought it for what marine parts I could salvage.

John,
Slick ride - now that's one silver bullet ghia! Must have been tough to let it go..

Thanks for the compliment on the tractor. I never noticed the similarity of the "A" logo to the Albin. I have limited myself at 3 tractors, the 1 pictured is mechanically and cosmetically restored, the other 2 are mechanically restored but are cosmetically original. I have numerous attachments that I have also restored and use on my property (1 acre) including snow plows, front PTO snow blower, leaf vac setup, etc. It's a fun hobby because the end product provides endless hours of return labor. I have fabricated and sold parts and implements, but not the actual tractors.
