Is 5500 hours alot?

Post by Hopeful »

I am seriously considering buying a 1979 Albin 25 Deluxe. However there is 5500 hours on the tach. Motor is original. Seems like a lot compared to the other Albins 25s I have seen for sale. Any idea how long these engines are good for..if well maintained .
Thanks, I really hope to buy this boat, but it has to make sense.

Sounds like it has been well used, ie. fairly good average annual usage. That's a good thing. These engines fare best when used frequently and kept under load. If well maintained, it's probably about half way thru its life. It wouldn't hurt to have an engine surveyor go over it.

This a good question for the Yahoo Albin group.
